Matt Kiehn
Matt is a managing partner and co-founding attorney at Kiehn|Sanchez, licensed to practice law in Oklahoma, Texas, and before the United States Tax Court. His practice focuses primarily on cannabis compliance, transactional matters, estate planning, and personal injury representation.
Matt earned his Bachelor of Science in Economics and Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from the University of Nevada, Reno. Before attending law school, he worked in higher education as an administrator and adjunct professor.
In May 2024, Matt earned his Juris Doctor from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas, graduating cum laude. During law school, Matt was actively involved in advocacy and leadership. He served as President of the Animal Legal Defense Fund–St. Mary’s Chapter and competed as a brief writer for the St. Mary’s National Moot Court Team. He was recognized for his legal writing by earning the Best Brief award in the 2022 Mack Kidd Administrative and Public Law Moot Court Competition.
While at St. Mary’s, Matt gained practical experience through a judicial internship with the Honorable Judge Rosie Speedlin Gonzalez and by participating in the law school’s Real Estate Clinic. In addition to his academic work, Matt served as a law clerk in both civil litigation and transactional law.
Following law school, Matt has worked with clients across a range of regulatory, transactional, and litigation matters, including cannabis compliance, contract drafting, estate planning, and resolving personal injury claims. Matt is a pro bono attorney with the Animal Legal Defense Fund as well as a member of the Military Spouse J.D. Network, the Animal Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, and the Cannabis Law Committee of the Oklahoma Bar Association. Outside of his legal practice, Matt enjoys spending time with his family and pets, as well as traveling throughout the United States and internationally.
